Hi Reader!

World Cup fever has hit us thanks to our home town of Toronto hosting the games! As a creator working with FIFA in Toronto, we've spent these past 3 weeks covering the events. That's why I thought this would be the perfect time to share some of our favourite places in the city.

✈️ In this issue:

  • Our favourite places in Toronto
  • Latest posts and updates - keeping it fresh!

If you haven't yet, make sure to check out the latest on our social channels: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube.

Toronto - A World In A City

"A world in a city" is one of the taglines of the World Cup in Toronto and what an appropriate way to describe our home.

What makes Toronto so special is that it's not so much a melting pot but it's the kind of place where all backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs are accepted and there are ways that all can stand out in vibrant diversity.

I know that not everyone's been swept up into World Cup fever like we have but having talked to visitors and seeing where the action has been, we have a round up of must-visit places in the city and how they've been connected with this tournament.

Toronto Islands

Undoubtedly, this is the best place to see the Toronto skyline. A short ferry ride away are the Toronto Islands, an amazing day trip where you can get active with kayaks like these, renting tandem bikes, hanging out on the beach, having fun at the small-scale amusement park, great picnic areas, disc golf, and more!

We came here as part of a special FIFA watch party by Destination Canada which you can watch here.

Distillery District

This is a Victorian-era gem that was once home to Gooderham & Worts Distillery. Today, it's been transformed into a cultural hub in Toronto with dining, shopping, and a great space for special events such as World Cup watch parties.

Harbourfront

Transformed into Canada Soccer House for the World Cup, this area should be part of every visit Toronto which is great for a stroll around, the lively weekend activities, and taking in views of Lake Ontario. The amphitheatre also has a line up of summer shows that are always amazing.

Stackt Market

Stackt has temporarily been transformed into the adidas Home of Soccer but typically, this is market constructed of empty shipping containers where you'll find special events running on the weekend, boutique shops, art galleries, and excellent food.

BMO Field

Renamed Toronto Stadium for the World Cup, this is a soccer and football field that's home to many of Toronto's professional sports including Toronto FC, the Toronto Argonauts.

This photo was taken from our seats at the first-ever Men's World Cup Match between Canada and Bosnia-Herzegovina and on seats that were temporarily built to expand the stadium's capacity. They are meant to be taken down after the tournament.

Overall, always a lively atmosphere to come out to see a game and adjacent to it are the Exhibition grounds where the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) sets up for 2+ weeks at the end of summer with agricultural showcases, midway rides, concerts, shopping, and over-the-top eats.

Fort York

Toronto's FIFA Fan Festival is on the grounds of Fort York, the largest collection of War of 1812 military buildings in Canada. Normally without all of the fanfare of the World Cup, you can discover the fort's history of how British soldiers, First Nations warriors and Upper Canadian militiamen stood together.

Nathan Philips Square aka City Hall

Such a wild sight to see with our city hall fully transformed into mini soccer pitches and packed with people from all over the world during the games.

Nathan Philips Square is always the centre of action and the heartbeat of Toronto. Come here for special weekend festivals, performances, and now, watch parties.

For those that aren't from Toronto, how many of these sites have you visited?
